Hershey Bears and abc27 Announce Seven TV Games

Sunday night when the Bears take on the St. John’s IceCaps, the Chocolate and White will be sporting special mustache covered Movember jerseys. Movember, a campaign were men grow mustaches for the whole month of November to raise awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health problems in males. The Hershey Bears are participating on Movember.com, as well as auctioning off these jerseys for charity after the game.
The American Hockey League has announced former Bears goaltender Frederic Cassivi will be inducted to the AHL Hall of Fame in January. The 2006 AHL Playoff MVP lead the Bears to their ninth Calder Cup in 2005-06, along with Bruce Boudreau, who was inducted in 2009.
Last weekend, the Hershey Bears held their annual autograph night. During the night, Bears forward Garrett Mitchell was mic’d up. Below, check out what he had to say during one of the most popular events each year.

Hockey Hall of Famer Frank Mathers name is legendary with Hershey Bears fans. The longtime team President, General Manager, Coach, and player helped to set the standard of excellence for Hershey Bears hockey.
Another Mathers is sure to be remembered by Hershey fans as well and this past weekend he returned to the broadcast booth for the first time in over three decades. Former Bears announcer and Frank’s son, J.D. Mathers, sat in with Bears announcer Scott Stuccio during Sunday’s broadcast.
Tom Wilson is hoping he’s played his last game in Hershey. The Caps forward played two games with the Bears including Sunday night’s 3-0 win over the Phantoms.
Wilson is trying to get back to game ready following his ankle injury earlier in the year. The 20-year-old may be going back to the Caps this week when Washington returns from their western Canada swing.
Every year the Hershey Bears hold a pink the rink night, wearing a jersey with the color pink on it somewhere. This year, the names and numbers where sporting that color associated with Breast Cancer awareness. The jersey are being auctioned off in a silent auction behind section 119 this evening. Portion of the proceeds from the jerseys will go to the American Cancer Society.

Saturday night the Hershey Bears wore throwback jerseys from the late 1950s for the Chocolate and White’s opening night. The jerseys were auctioned off for charity after the game, which Hershey won, 4-1.

The Bears kicked off their home season Saturday night against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Hershey topped the baby Penguins of a score 4-1 with goals coming from Tim Kennedy, Dane Byers, Casey Wellman, and a penalty shot goal from Dustin Gazley. Hershey will take on Lehigh Valley Saturday night against the Phantoms.

It may only be for the weekend, but Bears fans will see the return of Tom Wilson to Hershey. Two seasons ago, Wilson came out of Junior hockey and jumped into the Hershey Bears playoff lineup, scoring a goal in three games.
After a playoff stint with the Caps, Wilson played all 82 games with Washington last year, but didn’t see much playing time during those games.
