A Night at the Old Barn

While the team was playing in Syracuse, I had the pleasure of attending the dinner called “A Night at the Old Barn” which was hosted by the Hershey – Derry Township Historical Society. The night was the historical society’s major fund raiser for the year and in this case the third time was the charm. After a delay for flooding in September and then an October snowstorm, December 2nd proved to be the lucky night.

As you entered the arena at box office 4 you were greeted with a mix of familiarity and strangeness. Going through those doors so many times for games there was lots of nostalgia. But today instead of getting tickets at the box office, we got seat assignments. The stairway to the upper level had been converted into a coat check area. As you entered the arena you immediately saw that the ice surface was covered and prepared like a banquet hall with 56 tables awaiting their guests. Descending the steep steps to the arena floor you had a chance to take it all in. The score boards were lit up and displayed events and standings from many years ago.

Hershey Bears Take Part in Movember Campaign

Around this time of year, the weather gets a little colder and people start preparing for the holidays. If you’re a hockey player, it usually means that it’s time to grow a mustache.

For those of you unfamiliar with “Movember,” it’s a campaign encouraging men to grow mustaches (or “Mo’s”) to spread awareness for men’s health. The rules are simple: shave on October 31st and then put the razor away for the month of November. The efforts of the men taking part and rewarded with donations to the Movember cause.

Matt Ford took on the role of Captain of the Hershey Bears Movember team. So far, he is definitely doing his duty as he has racked up the most donations of any member of the team.

Now is your chance to take part in a great cause and back up the players while they make their way through this (itchy) month. It doesn’t matter which player gets your money, so choose a guy and get to donating! Even a few dollars will go a long way. After the jump, check out all the players taking part this year and open up your wallet!

Photos: Bears Celebrate Halloween in Hershey

Chris Bourque and Cody Eakin model their Halloween costumes this year.

It’s that time of year again – the time when people are expected to wear a costume and take part in general tomfoolery. When else do you get to see Cody Eakin as Ron Weasley and Chris Bourque as Justin Bieber?

Thanks to the magic of Twitter, we were able to get a look a few of the Hershey Bears’ costumes this Halloween. Hockey players – so like us. After the jump, check out a few other costumes from the Hershey boys.

We wish our readers and a safe and happy Halloween! If you have any hockey-related costumes or pumpkin carvings, leave a comment and let us know!

The rubber bracelets will be on sale during Sunday night’s Bears game and the bracelets made by the players will be auctioned off in a silent auction with bids starting at $25.

If you are unable to make it to the game, please check out Love for Lokomotiv’s website to get your own bracelet. Below the jump includes photos from Kim Bourque (Chris) and Cristina Mink (Graham) that they took through out this past week of the boys making their bracelets and the rubber ones they will be selling.
