There were a lot of hugs and smiling faces after Travis Boyd scored his series-winning OT goal against Wilkes-Barre Sunday night. But there was not a better celebration than Aaron Ness‘ on the bench right after the roof came off of Giant Center.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is emoji week here at Chocolate Hockey! We will be finishing off our 2015-16 Hershey Bears emoji set with each player being featured as an emoji all this week. We kick it off with the rest of the 2015-16 Hershey Bears defensemen.
The Washington Capitals have recalled Aaron Ness from Hershey the club announced Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old defenseman had nine points in 21 games for Hershey this season, spending time on the first power play unit the last few games.
Ness was named 2008 Minnesota Mr. Hockey, and award given to the top senior high school hockey player in the state of Minnesota. He has been one of Hershey’s best defensemen to start the season, playing in 21 of Hershey’s 22 games, and losing a tooth in the process.

The Washington Capitals made six cuts from their training camp roster Monday morning, setting up their final roster of 24 players. Included on that opening night roster are seven players who played with Hershey last season. Stan Galiev, Philipp Grubauer, Chris Brown, Nate Schmidt, Andre Burakovsky and Dmitry Orlov. Burakovsky and Orlov played only small stints with Hershey last year. Both Galiev and Grubauer make the opening night roster for the first time in their careers.
Each season the Hershey Bears see a good number of new faces joining the team. Some of these guys become so popular that fans will buy their jerseys or t-shirts throughout the season. A big part of those jerseys are the numbers. So what numbers will the newest Bears wear? That’s what we want to know!!
