Report: Liam O’Brien Out 4 to 6 Weeks with Knee Injury

PennLive.com writer Dave Sottile is reporting that Bears forward Liam O’Brien will be out the next four to six weeks with an MCL injury. O’Brien, 21, has played in 12 games for Hershey this season, scoring one goal and one assist. This is the second big loss for Hershey in as many weeks as it was learned that Jakub Vrana would be missing 3-4 months after wrist surgery.

Capitals Make Six Cuts From Training Camp. Galiev, Grubauer Make Opening Night Roster

The Washington Capitals made six cuts from their training camp roster Monday morning, setting up their final roster of 24 players. Included on that opening night roster are seven players who played with Hershey last season. Stan Galiev, Philipp Grubauer, Chris Brown, Nate Schmidt, Andre Burakovsky and Dmitry Orlov. Burakovsky and Orlov played only small stints with Hershey last year. Both Galiev and Grubauer make the opening night roster for the first time in their careers.

After starting out the season with the Washington Capitals, 20-year-old rookie Liam O’Brien came to Chocolate Town, USA to join the Hershey Bears. After posting up only eight points in 45 games, O’Brien had a breakout playoffs scoring three goals and three assists in ten games for the Bears.

O’Brien will rejoin the Capitals organization next year after signing a three-year contract with Washington at the beginning of the season.

All heck broke lose Saturday night at Giant Center with 4:20 remaining in the second period against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. It all started with goaltender interference on Pheonix Copley that went uncalled, knocking the stick out of his hands. He made a glove save to put play to a halt, where a scrum quickly escalated.
