Sweet Victory: Bears Move on After 3-2 Win in Lehigh Valley

“We faced adversity many times this year, and we gotta go in and win a hockey game. Obviously, it’s not ideal what’s happened here the last couple days, but we’ve had success in [Lehigh Valley] the last three games…so we certainly can go win tomorrow.” Those were the words of Troy Mann following last night’s loss to the Phantoms at Giant Center, and the Bears responded by gutting out a 3-2 win on Sunday evening. Hershey advances to the second round where they will have home ice advantage against the Providence Bruins.

Hershey Bears Drop Game Three to Lehigh Valley 2-1 in OT

The Hershey Bears were unable to close out their series with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday night, as the Phantoms took the game in overtime on Chris Conner’s breakaway goal. Hershey rematches the Phantoms with another chance to close things out on Saturday.

The game was similar to the first in the series, as both teams played a tight-checking game. Hershey had its best start of the series, energized by the loud crowd at Giant Center.

The Hershey Bears erased a 4-2 deficit in the third period, and Chris Bourque’s game winning goal with 33 seconds on the clock got Hershey a 5-4 victory in Lehigh Valley on Saturday night. Hershey takes a two-games-to-none series lead, with the chance to eliminate the Phantoms on Wednesday night at Giant Center.

Nathan Walker’s OT Goal Propels Bears to 1-0 Win in Game One

It took 67 minutes and 38 seconds, but the Hershey Bears were able to break a scoreless tie in overtime to take a 1-0 win in Game One of their first-round series in Lehigh Valley Friday night. Nathan Walker scored on a rebound of a Tyler Lewington shot to get Hershey the win in the extra session.

Bears to Face Phantoms After 3-0 Win Over Providence

The Hershey Bears wrapped up their regular season schedule on Saturday night at Giant Center with a 3-0 win over the Providence Bruins and locked in a first round playoff series with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms beginning on Friday.

The Bears had inserted different players into the lineup after playing with the same lineup during its road trip. Tonight’s game saw Dustin Gazley play his third game of the season, Mattias Backman on the blue line, and forward Christian Thomas see their first games since that stretch. Vitek Vanecek also made his first start since March 18 after Pheonix Copley started ten straight games.

It took 75 games and some help from the Springfield Thunderbirds, but the Hershey Bears can finally say they are playoff bound after taking a 2-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night. Hershey faces Providence tomorrow with a chance to alter their first round opponent, which currently is the same Penguins team they faced tonight. A win would have them facing Lehigh Valley.

Bears Topple Marlies With Late Stephenson Goal

Another day, another clutch win for the Hershey Bears. After taking the game in Rochester, the Bears were in Toronto on Saturday evening to take on the Marlies for the first time in Toronto since the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals. The Bears rebounded after a controversial goal tied the game, and Chandler Stephenson’s first goal since February 10 with 8.5 seconds left got the Bears their biggest win to date, 2-1.

Bears Come Back to Beat Phantoms in Overtime 3-2 (GIFs)

With eleven minutes remaining in the third period, it looked like the end for the Hershey Bears. The team had surrendered an early 1-0 lead and trailed for the first time in the game to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and in the midst of a critical last five games for Hershey, the team needed a comeback.

The Bears needed a perfect goal to solve Phantoms goaltender Alex Lyon, and they got it with a goal five minutes later from Riley Barber. The game would go to overtime when Travis Boyd got around the defense and roofed a shot that went in and out in a flash to get the Bears a critical 3-2 win.

Bears Lose Three Straight to Drop Out of Playoff Spot

The Hershey Bears were in action this weekend, but it was not the best of times for the Chocolate and White. Bears fans watched their team drop a 3-0 decision in Hartford on Friday, and back to back 4-2 losses to Bridgeport and Lehigh Valley on Saturday and Sunday sent the Bears to their first three game losing skid since mid January.

Bears Get 2-1 Victory Over St. John’s Sunday Afternoon

The Hershey Bears defeated the St. John’s IceCaps on Sunday afternoon to get a win out of back to back contests following a late 4-3 loss yesterday.

The game featured excellent chemistry by the line with Jakub Vrana, Travis Boyd, and Riley Barber. They combined to get the Bears on the board over halfway through the first when Barber made a picture perfect shot from the slot to put the Bears up 1-0.
