Binghamton Blows out Hershey After Third Period Collapse

The Hershey Bears were in search of grade “A” efforts in back to back nights against the Binghamton Senators. After snapping the B-Sens’ seven game winning streak, the Senators responded with a convincing 5-1 win at Giant Center.

Hershey’s Offense Explodes for Back-to-Back Wins in Charlotte

The last five games may not have all been pretty, but the Hershey Bears have now tallied points in each of them, including wins in three. The Bears traveled south to battle the Charlotte Checkers of the Western Conference for back-to-back weekday tilts on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Chocolate and White exploded for a combined 13 goals in the two day span, including eight on Thursday en route to two straight wins in Charlotte.

Hershey Bears Hold First Ever Hockey ‘n Heels

If you look around at any Hershey Bears game, you’ll notice a very strong base of female fans. In fact, 50% of fans in the stands are female. Wednesday night at Giant Center 100% of the fans were female for a first time event, “Hockey + Heels.” It was an interactive learning experience for 200 women, all of whom are Bears fans.

Nathan Walker Becomes First Aussie in AHL History to Score a Goal

Nathan Walker might look like the normal American Hockey League player: 5’10”, plays forward, and shoots left. Yet there is something that sets him apart from the rest: he’s from Australia. Born in Cardiff, Wales, Walker’s family moved down under when he was very young.

In an interview with NHL.com, Walker said “Hockey isn’t the most popular thing in Australia; it’s certainly not the number one thing to do on a Saturday night.” But those Saturday nights at the rink have helped him accomplished what no other person has before.

Bears Blast Admirals for First Home Win, 4-2

After a highlight reel goal by Michael Latta in the dying minutes of the second period on Saturday, Hershey looked to be well on their way to their first win of the season at Giant Center. However a third period power surge by the visiting Hartford Wolf Pack held the Bears win-less for another night at home.

Sunday, Head Coach Mike Haviland looked for the 60 minute effort his club has been lacking the last four weeks. Against the opposing Norfolk Admirals, speed and intensity was a style of hockey Hershey played with for 60 minutes, leading to a 4-2 win over the Admirals.

Capitals Assign Four to Hershey, Bears Sign Nathan Walker

The Washington Capitals announced today they have assigned four players to the Hershey Bears after making Saturday’s cuts. Those four players are Casey Wellman, Ryan Stoa, Jeff Taffe, and Nathan Walker. Walker, as reported by the George McPhee on Saturday, has signed a one-year deal with Hershey.
