Struggles for Hershey Continue, Lose 4-1

After a tough loss in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the Bears looked to bounce back against the Connecticut Whale. That was not the case tonight as the Bears could only score one goal tonight, three less than the Whale, who scored four and got the two points in the standings, beating Hershey 4-1.

Around 6:30 pm on Thursday night, Ryan Potulny tweeted Keith Aucoin “good luck buddy” and “you deserve it.” There was a bit of speculation on what was going on. Was Aucoin being called up? Or was Potulny just messing with the AHL leading scorer? If you guessed with that Aucoin was getting his first call-up to the big show this season, you guessed correctly.

A Tough Weekend Ends in One Final Loss for Hershey

Let’s take a trip back 2,837 days to April 17th, 2005. Eric Perrin is Hershey’s leading scorer after playing the end of last season with the Tampa Bay Lighting their Stanley Cup run. Peter Budaj has played almost 60 games for the Chocolate and White and Paul Fixter is the Head Coach for the Bears. But that April night in Bridgeport, CT, the Bears lost their sixth game in a row and was swept in their 3-in-3 series. That was the last time Hershey has lost three weekend games in a row. We are now at one day since Hershey has been swept in a 3-in-3 after the Bears fall to the Monarchs 4-2.

But Wednesday afternoon was a bit different, as Hershey Bears players Keith Aucoin, Ryan Potulny, Garrett Mitchell, Andrew Carroll, Zach Miskovic, and Jacob Micflicker came to the school to read to first and second graders.

Tomas Kundratek Recalled by Washington Capitals

As reported by Katie Carrera of the Washington Post and later confirmed by Stephen Whyno of the Washington Times, Tomas Kundratek has been recalled to the Washington Capitals. Kundratek was traded to Washington after he requested a trade from the New York Rangers. In early November, Francois Bouchard was traded for the defenseman who has produced six goals and eight points for Hershey in the past 21 games.

Bears Lose Outdoor Classic 4-3 (OT)

It was a night to remember, but also forget. With a goal scored by Chris Bourque early and one by Graham Mink late, the Bears looked like they were going to win the 2012 AHL Outdoor Classic. But that was not the case as Adirondack scored two late goals, including the game winning overtime one, as they went on to beat Hershey 4-3.
