If you recall on Saturday, the Hershey Bears wore special sweaters for their home opener to celebrate their 75th year in existence. After the game, the organization held a special event down at center ice and auctioned off each player’s jersey. The end result? The Bears raised an extraordinary $39,950 for their charities and a few lucky fans got to go home with a personally signed game-used jersey from their favorite player.

Which sweater ended up raising the most cash? The result may shock you.

Puckhead Returns to Hershey for Home Opener

Lamont Buford, better known as Puckhead to Hershey Bears fans, made his grand return to Giant Center Saturday night, to psych up the crowd during the 2012 home opener. Puckhead, who’s shown on the jumbotron after every Bears goal yelling “B-e-a-r-s, Bears, Bears, Bears, Woooo!”, made the trek from St. Louis, where he now currently works for the Blues. Unfortunately for Buford, the Bears were on the wrong end of an 8-7 loss, which happened to be the most combined goals scored in a Bears home opener ever. At least, he got to hear himself on the jumbotron seven times and also see a Gordie Howe hat trick.

Below the jump, check out video taken by our own Tim Stough and ABC27 of Puckhead revving up the crowd before the game. The dude’s still got it.

The start of the hockey season is almost here, which means it’s time for Season Ticket Holder pickup night for many teams around the country. At first glance the York (PA) City Ice Arena’s rink looked like it was simply holding a summer time hockey camp. There is no indication that the man running the camp has some incredible coaching credentials.
