Ryan Bourque comes out on top in the Battle of the Bourques Sunday night

For parts of the last three seasons, brothers Chris and Ryan Bourque have been teammates. Whether it was in Hartford, where Ryan made his name in professional hockey, or Hershey, where Chris is viewed as a living legend, the two have enjoyed spending time on the same roster.

Sunday night, the two sat on different benches for the first time since December of 2015 as the younger Bourque returned to Chocolate Town for the first time since signing with Bridgeport in September.

It’s very rare that a defenseman would have to take a faceoff for a team, but that was the case for the Hershey Bears on Friday night.

Rookie defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler found himself hovering over a faceoff dot in his own zone during a 5-on-3 penalty kill against the Providence Bruins. After centerman Zach Sill was kicked out of the circle, Siegenthaler looked at his roommate Tyler Lewington, who was also on the ice at the time and did an “I guess I’m going to take this” shrug.

Healthy competition among forwards pushes Tyler Graovac in return from injury

For almost a month, Tyler Graovac hasn’t been in a lineup. On October 17, Graovac was injured in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, suffering an upper-body injury that listed him at week-to-week.

After returning to the ice in early November, the 6-foot-5 center was assigned to Hershey on Tuesday on a long-term conditioning stint to begin his journey hopefully back to the NHL.

NHL 18 is over two months old this week. The game, which was released on September 15, adds a number of new features but retains an incredible amount of accuracy to the season as it goes along. Every so often, the in-game rosters are updated to reflect injuries, call-ups, and any players affected by injury.

There have been eight such updates so far this season, and reflect moves such as the recalls of Chandler Stephenson and Madison Bowey to Washington.
