Forward Nathan Walker was claimed off waivers Friday by the Edmonton Oilers and added to their NHL roster.
Walker, who made the Capitals roster out of training camp, has only played seven games this season.

As Lebanon native and World Series champion Derek Fisher stepped onto Giant Center ice in his customized “Fisher 21” Hershey Bears jersey, he flashed a peace sign to a loud response from Chocolate and White faithful.
As first reported by Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post, forward Nathan Walker will be placed on waivers with the intent to send him to the Hershey Bears if he is not claimed by another team.
Walker, 23, has played in only seven games for Washington this season and skated only 64 minutes all season.
Last week I had the pleasure to kick off the 2017-18 season of Chocolate Hockey Plays with Bears rookie defenseman Lucas Johansen as we played a game of NHL 18 together.
Funny enough, Johansen isn’t even in the game, so I took the time to make his player but not fill out his ratings. We let him pick his “overalls” in multiple categories with what stats he thinks he truly has.
The shuffling of Bears and Caps players continued this afternoon with defenseman Aaron Ness being placed on waivers Tuesday at noon. Ness had played in just eight games for the Caps, recording one assist and eight penalty minutes.
For parts of the last three seasons, brothers Chris and Ryan Bourque have been teammates. Whether it was in Hartford, where Ryan made his name in professional hockey, or Hershey, where Chris is viewed as a living legend, the two have enjoyed spending time on the same roster.
Sunday night, the two sat on different benches for the first time since December of 2015 as the younger Bourque returned to Chocolate Town for the first time since signing with Bridgeport in September.

Since the start of the season, the star of Riley Barber’s and Liam O’Brien’s Instagram accounts have been an Australian Labradoodle Mini named Ted.
Barber got himself the new companion at the end of June, and now the six-month-old Teddy is “quite the treat.”

It’s very rare that a defenseman would have to take a faceoff for a team, but that was the case for the Hershey Bears on Friday night.
Rookie defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler found himself hovering over a faceoff dot in his own zone during a 5-on-3 penalty kill against the Providence Bruins. After centerman Zach Sill was kicked out of the circle, Siegenthaler looked at his roommate Tyler Lewington, who was also on the ice at the time and did an “I guess I’m going to take this” shrug.

After scoring his first goal of the night in the first period, Mathias Bau picked up his second against Providence Friday night, with huge thanks to Anthony Peluso.
Peluso set Bau up in the slot with a perfect pass for Bau to find himself free between four Bruins in front of the net.
