Hershey Bears set world record with 2018 Teddy Bear Toss

The Hershey Bears have set a world record for their 2018 Teddy Bear Toss. The former record, held by the Calgary Hitmen, was 28,815. That has now been surpassed with a new total of 34,798.

10,046 fans helped collect the stuffed plush to bring to Giant Center on Sunday. The game was delayed about 40 minutes for clean-up of the teddy bears, thanks to Riley Barber’s first period goal. After the game restarted, Shane Gersich gave Hershey a 2-1 lead. Hershey ended up winning the game 6-3.

Hershey Bears jersey are getting some new technology for the 2018-19 season

The Hershey Bears will be rocking some new threads this season. In conjunction with CCM, all on ice Bears sweaters have been converted to the new CCM Quicklite jerseys, first seen at the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic in Utica.

This is a league-wide change for the 2018-19 season. According to the AHL, these new jerseys feature “more breathable fabric and new MixMedia cresting techniques, all designed for increased comfort, enhanced durability, better range of motion.”

With the 2018 Outdoor Classic just days away, Thursday night allowed female fans of the Chocolate and White an opportunity to get up close and personal with the Hersheypark Stadium rink and chat with some of their favorite Bears.

The event, which is in its fifth year, was held on the Outdoor Rink for the first time, allowed fans to skate on the ice, as well as learn about the process that goes into building a hockey rink on a football field.
